Every dog has the right to be the most beautiful!

Why you need to take care of your hair

It is known that a dog is to some extent a reflection of its owner. The elegant original look and expressive image of your pet largely depends on the condition of his coat.

Combing wool removes dead hairs, thereby reducing the number of hairs on furniture or carpet. Proper treatment of the coat with a brush or comb removes dirt from it, and simultaneous massage of the skin stimulates its blood supply, making the coat thicker and shinier.

Combing will prevent matting and tangles, and make grooming easier.

Miniature Schnauzer Grooming

Miniature Schnauzers have a double coat. They have a soft and dense undercoat that serves as insulation, and a hard, wiry outer coat that keeps moisture out and keeps them dry.

There is only one correct trimming scheme for a miniature schnauzer. If followed, a beautiful and balanced overall picture can be created, whether the dog is hand plucked (absolutely essential for show) or trimmed, which is the alternative for a purely domestic dog.

The procedure for plucking wool is natural for a schnauzer. Hair, growing to a certain length, die off, but does not fall out. Therefore, they must be removed not just at the level of the skin, but with the roots, using manual pinching. If a haircut is used, then the coat becomes softer, the undercoat is more abundant, and the color is less contrasting, especially in salt and pepper dogs.

Grooming the Griffon

Griffons come in two varieties: rough-haired and smooth-haired. In rough-haired dogs, the coat is coarse, wiry, thick, not very long. On the head, coarse hair frames the muzzle and forms sideburns, beard, mustache and eyebrows.

Smooth-haired Griffons have a short, straight coat that lies close to the dog's body and is shiny. The color of the griffins is red, red-brown, black. In adult dogs, gray hair is allowed on the muzzle.

The griffon's coat is very tough and, due to its density, it almost does not get dirty and does not get wet. Caring for her is quite simple: it is enough to comb once a week and clean with a bristle brush. During the molting period, the coat must be updated (trimmed, plucked). This is a relatively simple procedure, but before the next molt, you are guaranteed to get rid of the abundance of wool in the house.

Griffon trimming starts from the withers along the back, pulling out the hair in the direction of hair growth. The tail, limbs and chest of the dog are treated in the same way. You can use scissors to cut skirts. Also, with their help, excess hair on the dog's muzzle is removed: at the same time, the adorning hair on the cheekbones and beard is cut off in an arc not too short.

Show Griffons are trimmed 10-12 weeks before the show to give their coat a great look. Griffon's haircut to correct overgrown hair is done 7-10 days before the show.

Grooming the King Charles Spaniel

Caring for kings is easy. It is desirable to accustom to a comb from childhood. Their coat is wavy and silky, so when you wash your dog, you need to use a conditioner, then you will avoid the appearance of tangles.

Kings do not need a haircut, except that you need to cut the hair between the pads on the paws.

The hair on the neck, ears, hind and front legs and tail  should be combed daily with a soft brush, and once a week with a comb.

From an early age, dogs of this breed need to be taught to comb and blow-dry.

Hygienic haircut

home haircut

As a rule, a hygienic haircut is resorted to if the dog's coat is very neglected, there are a lot of tangles. The tangles harm the health of the animal, prevent the skin from breathing, are the focus of inflammatory processes, which brings the dog unnecessary discomfort. In addition, a haircut will save you from daily painful combing. It is convenient to make a hygienic haircut for a dog before leaving for the country. Then the burdock will not cling to the fur of your pet, and it will also be easier to notice the attached tick. A haircut will greatly facilitate your daily work in caring for your pet.

Exhibition haircut

Show-groom of schnauzer and griffon

The process of preparing a wirehaired dog for a show can take up to twelve weeks before its coat becomes showy. Trimming (plucking hair with hands) is carried out approximately 8 weeks before the show so that the dog is already quite overgrown at the competition, but at the same time the coat does not hide its strong and prominent muscles and beautiful posture. A few days before the exhibition, a cosmetic haircut is carried out.

To preserve the exhibition appearance of the dog for a long time, rolling is used - thinning the coat once a week, removing long hairs from the head and body.

Regular care

In order for your pet to always look beautiful and neat, it is necessary to perform a cosmetic haircut once a month. Such a haircut is performed in between model haircuts and before visiting the exhibition. The hair on the ears and paws grows faster than on the body, the dog looks untidy. Haircut on the ears, paws and hygienic places (under the tail) will return your dog a beautiful well-groomed appearance. Cosmetic trimming includes: trimming the ears, trimming the bangs, trimming the hair around the paws and between the toes, trimming the hair under the tail.

Washing the dog

Drying with a hair dryer

It is necessary to wash a decorative dog as it gets dirty, optimally - this is about once a month, unless, of course, the dog gets dirty and you don’t have to wash it “out of schedule”. After bathing and conditioning, it must be wiped with a towel. Decorative dogs are dried very carefully, carefully removing water from the coat. With vigorous rubbing, the hair curls and becomes brittle, so you can’t be too zealous. The dog can be dried both naturally and with a hair dryer.

Trimming the nails

Hygiene procedures

I would like to recall those procedures that are simply vital for our smaller brothers! This is cleaning the ears, trimming the claws, cleaning the paranasal glands, removing tartar. Nail clipping is essential not only for grooming, but also to keep your dog healthy. It is important to remember that claws that are not trimmed in time can cause various problems, such as breaking off the claws, growing into the paws, which causes pain and heavy bleeding.
